How You Can Automate The DIR Command

If your are using same switches frequently in Command prompt then open your system command prompt using open

Run option

Click Start and open Run option then type cmd to open command prompt, here type

set dircmd=/w/o/p

then press Enter, now every time thereafter that you type DIR

the  /w/o/p  switches will be automatically applied and now need to type every time. If your are interested to use single switch like /w you can use it

set dircmd=/w

and press Enter.

and same if you wants to undo these switches then you can very easily by typing

dir /-switch

For example, if you wanted to do a directory with only the /w switch, you could enter

dir /-p/-o

When you exit the Command prompt window, however, the Dircmd setting returns to its default settings.

If you work on windows , you know that shutting it down can be really a hassle and time taking , especially when a lot of programs are running . Most of us tend to avoid shutdown due to this reason but we know that shutdown is always safer and also considered good for the pc.

There are a lot of shutdown tricks and tools available , which help you to achieve a smooth and fast shutdown of windows without negatively affecting your pc.However this trick , which was suggested to me by a friend , is probably the simplest one and also the fastest way to shutdown your pc.

I have tried this trick on my XP system and it has worked everytime and has not negatively affected my pc.I have not tried this on any other version of Windows but I think it’ll work.

However I advise you to use this trick only when you are in a rush and you need a speedy shutdown of your pc.

How to Do a Remote Shutdown for a PC on a LAN.

Open notepad by clicking to Start menu=> All Programes=> Accessories=> Notepad. Or, you can just type "notepad", without quotes, into the start menu in Run and hit enter.

• Change the if %time%== part to a time of your wish. It should be in this format:- (HH:MM:SS.MS) and in 24 hours format otherwise it won't work.

• Go to the File=> Save As

Change the "Save as type" box to "All Files"

• Type "timer.bat" into file name and click "Save"

• Double click the file. A blank command prompt screen should appear.

• Leave this window open while you do your work.

• When the time you particular in step 3 comes around, your computer should display a message for one minute, then shut down.

• If you want to abort the shutdown, press the Windows Key (the key with the Microsoft logo on it) + R.

Type "shutdown -a", without quotes into the window that appears & hit Enter. A Command Prompt window should appear, then disappear. A balloon similar to this one should appear.

2* Press "Ctrl"+F" to search for the strings containing the word "Recycle bin".

3* Change the value data of "Recycle Bin" to another name you want like "Trash" or "Dust Bin"

4* Press F3 to continue searching for 'Recycle Bin' and change wherever you come across 'Recycle Bin' to its new name.

5* Repeat step 4 until you have finished with searching and changed all values to its new name.

6* Close "regedit" and hit F5 on desktop to see the new name on screen.

2nd method

1* Click Start then go to Run.

2* Type regedit and press enter.

3* Open the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder

4* Open the CLSID folder

5* Open the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} folder

6* Open the ShellFolder folder

7* Change the "Attributes" data value from *40 01 00 20* to *50 01 00 20*. Once completed change the "CallForAttributes" dword value to "0x00000000" (double click and change value data to 0). You must change both of these values to get the rename to appear.

Now you will be able to rename the icon like any other icon.

Right-click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop and click Rename and rename it to whatever you wish.

Take care when editing the Windows Registry! Do not absent-mindedly edit any other values, as you can render your PC completely unusable. Ensure that you create a backup of your registry.

Run Registry Editor (RegEdit).
Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile

Delete the IsShortcut registry value in the right pane.
Tip: It’s also workable to just rename the IsShortcut registry entry to another name, such as IsNotShortcut.

Some other type of documents and files may be shortcut arrow on their icons too. To remove the shortcut arrow overlay image on these icons, navigate to each of the following registry keys, and then repeat step 2 and step 3 above to deactivate the shortcut arrow:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ConferenceLink

Rename it by typing “LegalNoticeCaption”

Again create another new “string value” and rename it by typing “LegalNoticetext”.
Again modify on the “value data” part, typing the message, you want to show at startup windows.
Shut the registry editor and restart your  computer.

How To Make Bootable USB Using Command Prompt.

 Making Windows7 or Windows 8 installation from your USB device is really too economic and easy just need to make it bootable by using Command prompt and ISO image of the Disk. Insert your USB drive & Let see how to do that

1. Open the Start menu 
2. Type cmd and right click on it and start with administrator right.

Now on the command prompt, type the following commands

1. Diskpart

2. List Disk

List disk command will generate the list of Disk connected to your computer like Hard disk & USB disk. This will be like in figure.

3. Select Disk 1 (In my case USB is as disk 1)

4. Clean

5. Create Partition Primary

6. Active

7. Format fs=ntfs (Wait for a few minutes)

8. Assign

9. Exit

Now your USB drive is ready to boot any computer just another step requires.
1. After This Copy all files from Windows DVD & paste into the
Bootable USB Drive.
2. Restart your computer to install new windows in your computer
